Final Fantasy Foods at the Sun Cafe – Roppongi Hills, Tokyo

March 5, 2018 by Jan 1 Comment
Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Food - Sun Cafe - Chocobo Omurice

We happened to be in Tokyo during the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition so we stopped by to check it out. Titled “別れの物語展” (Memories of You), the exhibition recaps all the Final Fantasy series most memorable parting moments in the past 30 years. While attending the exhibition at the Mori Arts Center Gallery, we discovered there was an FF 30th collaboration menu with The Sun Cafe. It’s only fitting that we replenish our HP (health points) with Final Fantasy food after our visit.

Qin Ma Grill Restaurant - Burnaby, BC

Mr. Chau and I stumbled upon Qin Ma Grill (秦媽吾家) on our way to Metropolis Comics and Toys on Kingsway across from Metrotown. We’ve never heard of this restaurant before but what caught my eyes were the serving vessels. Since we’re already here, we might as well give them a try right? Here’s what we ate for lunch.

Arita Yaki Gozen at Gallery Arita, Saga

Arita Yaki Gozen from Gallery Arita, Saga
Located in Saga Prefecture, Arita (有田) is a town known for their porcelain – Arita Yaki. With only half a day in Arita, we visited the Kyushu Ceramic Museum and ate lunch at the nearby cafe. Liked many towns in Japan, there is a local food “experience” in Arita called the Arita Yaki Gozen. Here’s what this special meal looks like.

My first tea subscription box! Thanks to @tearunne My first tea subscription box! Thanks to @tearunners and @instanomss, I had the opportunity to try the Black Tea subscription box (which I customized) from Tea Runners. The giveaway included the Easy Brew Glass Teapot and this is what I wanted to showcase in this post. I've been brewing my teas mainly with a tiny tea pot, a small traveling tea set or a gaiwan. They are great but when hubby and I both want a big glass of tea to start the day, it'd be much more efficient to brew in a larger tea pot. That's where this Easy Brew Glass Teapot fits in. It has a line to indicate 8oz of water but you could brew more (~10-12oz) at a time. Just remember to adjust the amount of tea leaves to accommodate the increase in water volume. The teapot comes with a fine mesh attached to the lid to keep the liquor clear of tea leaves. This is one of my favourite features because I find it worked better than a removable strainer. It's really easy to use and clean, plus the volume is perfect for us to have a good size cup of tea to start our work day. I've been using this teapot daily for our morning tea. If you're looking for a glass teapot with a build in strainer, check out the Easy Brew Glass Teapot on Tea Runners. This post is not sponsored but I did win the teapot and tea subscription from a giveaway. These are my opinion after using the teapot for 3 weeks.

👋🏻Hi, I'm back on IG after 3 weeks break. 😊 There's a backlog of things that I wanted to share so lets start with this epic meal. We welcomed 2021 with Osechi from @stemjapanese. I wasn't expecting to get my hands on this given that they sold out so quickly. But after 43 tries, I got through the phone and felt like I just won the lottery because I managed to secure 1 of the 10 additional boxes. When I unwrapped the osechi on New Years Day and saw this spread before me it was like love at first sight. 😍 I literally looked like this emoji. 😂 The food tasted amazing and there were a lot of seafood which I loved! The added bonus is that I didn't have to cook for a couple of days! There was enough food to feed us for 2.5 meals (we had rice on the side). My personal favorites include: *Japanese female snow crab with roe
*slow braised baby abalone
*Hokkaido Scallop sake-kasu yaki
*smelt fish nanban-zuke
*roasted wagyu Flip through the photos to take a closer look at the items. I'm already looking forward to ordering this again!

Started the day with stretches and a 10-minute pla Started the day with stretches and a 10-minute plant therapy while sipping my houjicha latte. Yes, it's Monday. But my body is telling me to slow down and I listened. I also tried the @hibilife incense for the first time. The 10-minute burn time is perfect because it acts like a timer without actually being an alarm clock (which, the beeping, sometimes makes me jump and kills the mood). The smell of the incense, the wispy smoke, the plants by my window, the aroma and taste of houjicha...all seem so trivial but they gave me the calm that I needed to start the day. Thanks for reading if you have gotten this far. ☺️

This was my second time trying gyokuro and just like the first time, I was hit in the face with the umami flavour. It's sweet, vegetal and a little nutty. And the vibrant green is 💚 Couldn't have asked for a better tea to start my Monday.
