Since Mr. Chau loves saké or Japanese rice wine, I will try to look for saké bars whenever we visit Japan. During our recent trip to Northern Kyushu, we stumbled up on a saké bar located at the Hakata JR Station area in Fukuoka. Saké no Kyushu (酒の九州) is a small saké bar tucked away in the B1 level of Amu Mall, adjacent to Hakata JR Station. The signage outside the bar was in Japanese so Mr. Chau was hesitant about going in. But being adventurous is part of travelling right? Let’s go!
Sugar Lab is one of the dessert places that have recently opened up in Burnaby. They are especially known for their mille crêpe cakes. Besides cakes, Sugar Lab also have other shaved ice, Chinese sweet soups and a variety of milk teas and slushy drinks. Curious to see how their cakes and desserts compare to others, I visited Sugar Lab twice recently with Mr. Chau. Take a look at the items we’ve tried.
The newly opened Dosanko restaurant in Vancouver caught my attention because they serve home-style Japanese food instead of sushi or ramen. So I took Mr. Chau there for lunch to check out their menu. We’re hoping to find some of the flavours we’ve had in Japan at Dosanko. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo of their lunch menu. So I’ll be taking a guess at what some of the ingredients are for each of the dishes mentioned here.
The first Starbucks Reserve in Western Canada opened in Vancouver in May 2017. Besides their normal menu, you can also get affogatos and cold brew floats which are unique to this location. But it was the experience bar that drew us to visit. This is where you can watch the Coffee Masters brew coffee using methods such as Siphon and Clover brewing techniques. Sounds interesting right?! Let’s take a look the Siphon Brewing method!
